Trials Agronomist

We’re looking for a talented Trials Agronomist to manage the Branston variety trials programme, ensuring all trial varieties are grown to the protocols and specifics so they provide reliable data for decision making. It’s a busy and varied role, so your ability to multitask, prioritise and delegate is essential.

Working alongside most departments throughout Branston, especially the Seed & Agronomy team, the ideal candidate will have at least 3 years’ experience in an agronomy / trial’s role. Candidates that currently hold BASIS & FACTS qualifications would be desirable, although not essential.

To succeed within the role, you’ll need to have a sound knowledge of potato production and growing whilst also having good planning and organisation skills. A good understanding of Microsoft packages (including Excel and Outlook) is also necessary, with being a competent and confident driver with a B&E (trailer) pass test essential for the role.

Transport Coordinator

On a day-to-day basis, you’ll be the primary contact point for customers and haulier partners, whilst also ensuring that safety, service and savings targets are adhered to. The main focus of the role is to plan transport for all areas and ensure that they are operating efficiently, ensuring that all KPI’s are adhered to.

To succeed within the role, you’ll need to be able to think on your feet, adapting to delays/road closures on a daily basis. You’ll also need an understanding of transport planning and industry standards as well as excellent communication skills – you’ll be speaking regularly with various stakeholders. A good understanding of Microsoft packages (including Excel and Outlook) is also necessary, with the ability to work to deadlines efficiently and effectively being essential.

We work together – in teams, across sites with our customers and growers – towards common goals. You’ll be building trusting relationships with the team taking the lead on all safety issues to improve safety.

You’ll ensure that day to day maintenance, service and breakdown operations are carried out to a high standard, and that production lines are kept operating at the highest level possible, while working safely to existing site standards. Net Zero Research Manager (Fixed-term contract)

As part of ‘Our Why’, where we aim to make a positive different to how we feed the planet, we are looking for a Net Zero Research Manager to oversee our Net Zero project, in partnership with Innovate UK and B-hive.

The role will be an important cog in our Net Zero development in 2022 and beyond, working with various teams within the business and externally to deliver long-term change. You will support growth and development, track and report on the programme’s achievements, manage budgets, support research and marketing activities, as well as liaise with industry experts to challenge the norm.

Initially a 3-year fixed-term contract role, there is a view for the role to be taken on permanently on a longer-term basis.

This is a great opportunity for soon to be / recently graduated candidates, or school leavers, to join an exciting project and have direct exposure to clients and value adding responsibilities.

We’re looking for someone who has a genuine interest in environmental business needs, who has the ability to build effective relationships, has a high level of attention to detail and who has an approachable and professional manner. A practical understanding of potato production is essential, with a preference for a degree level qualification. Successful candidates will be familiar with farming practices as well as how they affect the carbon footprint of production systems.

Our site in Abernethy, Perthshire is currently seeking an experienced and skilled Forklift Driver. The site is a small but efficient potato manufacturing plant, which complies with all government legislation regarding Covid-19 to keep all of our colleagues safe. The role is based in our intake area of site. The successful applicant will be responsible for loading and unloading potato boxes on to LGV vehicles, and stacking boxes within our storage sheds on site. Shifts are over a fixed 3.5 day week, with additional hours available.
