Spud Spud Spud

How to make roasties

No roast dinner would be complete without them. Can you put the recipe steps in order to help The Spark make roasties?

Roast potatoes are one of our favourite ways of eating spuds. Crispy and golden on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. But how do you make roasties?

Recipes are made up of two parts that work together: the ingredients (all the food items you need) and the method (the steps you need to follow).

The ingredients for roast potatoes are simple:

  • potatoes
  • oil

It’s important to follow all the steps in the right order for the recipe to work. There are also some things that you will need for each of the steps. Can you work out what they are and put the pictures in the right order too?

Items you’ll need: (not in this order)

  • colander (like a big sieve)
  • peeler
  • oven
  • baking tray
  • cooker hob
  • chopping board and knife
  • pan

To do this activity print out both pages. Cut out the steps and pictures on page 1 then stick them in the correct order onto page 2.

When you’ve completed this you might like to research some of your favourite recipes and copy them out into a simple step by step guide, along with pictures.
