Keen cyclists raise funds for Rethink Mental Illness and Support in Mind Scotland

On Friday 31st August the Branston team undertook its fourth annual Branston Century Cycle Ride. 31 intrepid lycra-clad cyclists undertook the gruelling routes around the Lincolnshire countryside, taking in a range of challenging terrain (no Lincolnshire isn’t all flat!). This year there was a 50 mile and a 100 mile route to suit a range of abilities, enabling the riders to push themselves to their respective limits. Two of the cyclists from the Scotland site even rode a tandem, and added an extra section to the standard 50 mile route to round up their distance to 100km.

For the first year since it started, the Branston Century took place on a hot sunny day. This time some of the main challenges for the cyclists were keeping hydrated on the ride and avoiding sunburn. At the end of the ride the cyclists joined colleagues for a well earned sit down and afternoon tea.

This year’s challenge was to raise much-needed funds for Branston’s Charities of the Year – Rethink Mental Illness and Support in Mind Scotland. The overall fundraising total topped £13,000, which will be shared between the two charities.
