Nemaslug Xtra
Biological slug control
Nemaslug Xtra is the only effective biological control of slugs in the soil specially formulated for potatoes.
This Branston product uses the mollusc-specific pathogenic nematode Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita, which actively seeks out soil-dwelling slugs. Although these nematodes are found naturally, levels are too low to impact on a slug population. An application of Nemaslug Xtra inundates the soil with over 50,000 nematodes/m2, equivalent to 500million/ha. And it only takes one nematode to invade a slug's dorsal pore for the slug to die.
Unlike granules, Nemaslug Xtra penetrates the soil profile and targets slugs where they are active. Nemaslug Xtra leaves no crop residues and can be used on all crops, including organics. All the economically important species of slug are completely susceptible, including the keeled slug (Milax and Tandonia spp.), the round-backed slug (Arion spp.) and the grey field slug (Deroceras reticulatum).
