On 19 September a team of 12 colleagues, some experienced cyclists, and some less so, took part in a 100-mile cycle challenge through the Lincolnshire Wolds, starting and finishing at the Lincoln site.

Each site fundraises yearly for staff-selected, local charities of the year, but this was the first year that all sites have taken part in one single event and fundraised collectively for their chosen charities.

This year the Scotland site (Perth) are fundraising for the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS). The Lincoln site is supporting Sands (the stillbirth and neonatal death charity) and the South West (Somerset) site’s chosen charity is Children’s Hospice South West.

Despite a cold and misty start the team pushed on and their perseverance paid off when the sun came out just before lunch. The cyclists all successfully completed the challenge and were rewarded with a celebratory trip to the local pub to rest their weary legs!

Although donations are still rolling in, the current total stands at over £4,000 for Sands, £600 for CHAS and £600 for the Children’s Hospice South West, which Branston has pledged to match.

James Truscott, Managing Director, commented:

‘After a rather chilly start the team soon got into their stride with everyone crossing the line of the 102.5 mile course in 7 hours and 15 minutes.

I would personally like to take this opportunity to thank all involved who helped support this and other activities - in the process raising money to support the wonderful work these charities do.’
