The team at Branston is delighted to have been crowned ‘Community Business of the Year' at the NK Community Champion Awards in Lincoln.
Branston scooped the gold award at the annual awards ceremony in the Community Business of the Year category, beating off stiff competition from locally based RAF Cranwell. From hundreds of entries, the panel of judges drew up a shortlist considering sustainability, impact on the greater community and to what extent the candidate acts beyond the call of duty.
Branston's commitment to the environment was important to the judges, particularly the research and development involved in introducing the Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant and water recycling facilities at their site in Lincoln.
Branston is dedicated to giving time and resources to good causes around all three of its sites. In the past year, Branston has donated money for a local playground in Branston village, provided funding to Brainwave in Illminster to run their hydrotherapy pool and volunteers from the Scotland site dedicated time and funding to tidy up Moncreiffe Hill.
Simon Telfer, HR and logistics director at Branston said: "Being good neighbour in the local community is very important to Branston, so we're very proud that our work has been recognised by winning this award."
"We support many local projects that benefit the local community which we work in. Our staff members are great advocates for the company and work hard in the community. We're absolutely delighted to win this award."
Chairman of North Kesteven District Council, Cllr Ian Cartwright MBE, said "The NK Community Champion Awards Ceremony was a wonderful way to say thank you to some really outstanding people."
"This year's awards were bigger and better than ever before with six different categories to honour those individuals, businesses and groups that have made a real difference to their communities."
