Branston is delighted to have won the ʻBest New Variety: Vegetable/Saladʼ award at the prestigious UK Grower Awards this week. They received this award for their new variety of potato, Inca Bella, which boasts an incredibly quick roasting time of just 30 minutes. The development for Inca Bella began in 2000 and was whittled down from over 1,500 potential new varieties to meet consumersʼ demand for a faster cooking time and great flavour.
Simon Spink, Senior Account Manager at Branston, said: “We are honoured to have received the Best New Variety award for Inca Bella. This award is a testament to the incredible work our growers do to constantly build and improve our supply of potatoes. With over 15 years of dedication going into the development, we are thrilled to see Inca Bella, and everyone involved, getting recognised within the industry.”
The awards event took place at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London on Wednesday 3rd February 2016 and was attended by big names from across the whole industry. The annual awards are held to celebrate the best of UK production horticulture.
With its distinctive pink splashes and sweet, nutty flavour, Inca Bella has proven to be a huge hit with consumers. It took just six weeks after its launch in 2014 to sell out and Branston is now working on multiplying up stock to meet the growing demand.
