On 20 November the Eat Happy film crew visited Branston’s Lincoln site for a live broadcast as part of the Eat Happy Project’s series of online field trips. The ‘Earthy Potatoes’ episode linked the site up with three schools via an interactive satellite feed so that the children could get fully involved. The broadcast was also streamed live into lots of other classrooms all around the UK to help children learn all about potatoes’ farm to fork journey.
Branston Field Director David Nelson was interviewed by presenter Sam Mann in the Intake quality assurance area and in the factory, and answered questions put to him by the children. The field trip gave a fascinating insight into potato varieties, how they grow, what happens when they’re harvested, how Branston gets them ready for sale and what happens to the ones that don’t make the grade.
