FOOTBALLERS from Falkland AFC have started the season with a fresh new kit, thanks to a generous donation from Branston.
The team at Branston's Scotland site in nearby Abernethy, gifted £500 to the amateur league football club ahead of the 2017/18 season. With this sponsorship, all 30 signed players received a brand new kit.
Kevin Imrie, general manager of Branston’s Scotland site, said: “One of our LGV drivers Ranald MacDonald approached me a few months ago and asked if we would sponsor a new football kit for Falkland AFC, of which he is vice-chairman.
“Ranald and the committee have done a fantastic job improving the club facilities over recent years and I was only too pleased to support such a worthy cause – anything that encourages young people to play sport and learn about the importance of teamwork is a great help when they join the world of work.”
As well as playing in the amateur league with the adult team, Falkland AFC will be also starting a football school for children aged 6-11 in early 2018 to encourage young players in the local area to get involved in the sport.
Alexander Simpson, chairman of Falkland AFC, said: “Everyone at the club is delighted with the new kit we have received through Branston’s sponsorship. We’re really grateful for the donation and it’s great to have such a key employer locally lend their support to us. The whole process has been really easy and straightforward and the team at Branston have been very proactive in helping us.”
