A team of employees from Branston's Lincoln site took part in a special 10k twilight walk last Saturday (17 August) at Grimsthorpe Castle and raised nearly £300 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Marie Curie is Branston’s charity of the year and the company has been holding fundraising events since January in order to raise £10,000 for the local branch of the cancer care charity. Despite a few minor injuries along the way, all of the eight-strong Branston team completed the 10 kilometre walk, which took place at dusk in the beautiful setting of Grimsthorpe Castle near Bourne alongside hundreds of other people from across Lincolnshire.
Walkers set off at 6pm to enjoy their trek through the gardens, woodland and lake at sunset. The night ended with live entertainment and fireworks.
Simon Telfer, HR director at Branston said: “We have worked hard throughout the year to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care and have achieved over our initial £8000 target for the charity so far. “Marie Curie is a very worthy charity that provides much needed care to cancer patients and we’re pleased that we are able to help raise more funds for its vital work.”
There is still time to sponsor the Branston team’s 10k walk around the castle. To donate visit http://www.justgiving.com/walk-10.
