Real Potato Company
A special new brand
In May 2007 we launched a new consumer-facing brand, The Real Potato Company. The idea behind it came when we noticed a gap in Tesco’s potato offering, between their premium and standard bags. We realised that we had a great opportunity to build our own brand and satisfy a visible customer need.
After months of in-depth research, strategy and design work, The Real Potato Company was born, and Tesco agreed to stock it – a rare move for a supermarket’s fresh produce area, and one that showed their trust in us.
The brand features speciality varieties like Piccolo and Bellini, offering them when they’re at their best rather than all year. One of the key reasons behind developing The Real Potato Company as our own was the potential we believed it had to grow across the retail and wholesale market. It’s already attracting a lot of interest.
