Growing potatoes

Constant care and attention

We grow our potatoes from the highest standard seed tubers, planted in seed beds which have been carefully prepared to remove stones. For very early potatoes, we cover the seed beds with fleece to keep them warm and encourage growth.

After about four weeks the plants start to emerge. From then on it’s a matter of careful monitoring to ensure that conditions are at their best. Too much or too little water, lack of sunshine, potato blight and slugs are just a few of the things that can have an adverse effect on the crop. Then, after about 16 weeks, the crop should be ready to harvest.
