Mashed potatoes

What you’ll need:

  • 500g potatoes
  • 20g butter
  • A splash of hot milk

What to do:

  1. Peel the potatoes and cut into large even-sized chunks
  2. Boil for 20 minutes in a pan of salted water
  3. Drain and return to the pan
  4. Add the butter and hot milk to taste
  5. Mash away until smooth and velvety

Good varieties to use:

Desiree or Maris Piper

Top tip:

Use an electric whisk for ultra smooth mash. You can also try adding crème fraiche or cream if you’re feeling indulgent!
