Who we are

Originally established in 1968...

Branston today is one of the largest farmer-controlled produce businesses in the UK.

Things really started to get exciting for us in the late 80s, when the retail industry was accelerating fast and our shareholders wanted to be a part of it.

Building a £1 million factory before we’d even got our first retail customer was a huge leap of faith, but we believed in our product and it paid off – we soon had the support of Tesco.

Since then, we’ve gone from strength to strength. We’re now the supermarket giant’s biggest produce supplier, providing two thirds of its fresh potatoes. In fact, for Tesco and our other customers, we’re buying over 400,000 tonnes of potatoes a year.

Some of the same shareholders now make up our Main Board, continuing to push Branston forward while the Executive Board implements strategy and runs the business. But we couldn’t make it happen without the support of a far bigger team. We employ over 600 people, and their talents, commitment and enthusiasm are what really keep us growing.
