Satisfying ever-increasing demand to optimise potential
Since July 2004 when we took over the Scottish operation, we've worked hard to maximise its potential. And we couldn’t have done that without our Scottish growers who were keen to supply a busier factory and continue to rise to the challenge of an ever-increasing factory demand. Today, the site is bigger and busier than ever, in fact, we’ve increased throughput by a massive 200%.
Set in four acres in Abernethy, the site employs 98 people and boasts the following:
- Next generation packing and weighing equipment
- Increased throughput in the last 3 years from 35,000 to 70,000 tonnes per annum
- 4 production lines producing in excess of 25 tonnes per hour
- New temperature controlled despatch facility
- New staff welfare block incorporating eco friendly materials and utilities
- Accredited ISO14001 standard, an internationally approved standard of environmental management system
- Producer Group increase in committed tonnes from 44,000 to 77,000 and from 36 to 43 members
- Contracted tonnes from zero in 2004 to 42% in 2006
